Architecture exhibitions must rely on proxies: drawings, photographs, models… But what happens when an exhibition takes place in the building itself? For its 50th anniversary, Theater Basel becomes its own 1:1 model and therewith site, subject, and display. Instead of material collected in a white cube, the exhibition unfolds in and around the building itself. Twenty panels reveal that A Theater Like This Has Never Been Built – a rare exhibition where architecture appears as its own original, accompanied by a free publication available on site.

Accompanying program: The exhibition is complemented by themed guided tours led by experts from architecture, art, and technology – both from within and outside the Theater Basel.
